Women's Water Polo Downed by Stanford 6-1

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team's struggles continue as they lost 6-1 to visiting Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match. Jennifer D'Anna scored the lone goal for the Gauchos as UCSB has now dropped four straight. The Cardinal was paced by Wendy Watkins who scored twice.

Stanford controlled the tempo from the beginning to build a 3-0 at the end of the half. D'Anna's goal opened the scoring in the third quarter and reduced Stanford's lead to two. However the visitors went on to find the back of the net three more times to capture the 6-1 victory.

The Gauchos are now 11-11 overall and 2-5 in the MPSF, while Stanford jumps to 14-3, 6-1.

UCSB returns to action April 9th at Cal State Northridge.
