Junior outside hitter Janine Sandell was named the Macy's/ucsbgauchos.com Athlete of the Week Monday for her performances in Gaucho wins over Florida A&M and South Dakota State last week at the Baden Thanksgiving Classic in Long Beach. The London native led the Gauchos with 16 kills on a .286 clip against Florida A&M just a day after registering 16 kills against South Dakota State. Sandell will lead the Gauchos into the NCAA Tournament this week where they will face USC on Friday in Los Angeles.
