Fort Collins, Colo. - The 13th-ranked UC Santa Barbara Women's Volleyball team opened up the University Park Holiday Inn Classic with a sweep of Drake Friday evening 15-3, 15-1, 17-15.
The Gauchos were led by freshman outside hitter Erica Menzel's 15 kills. Freshman Simone Kuhn added 10 kills and five blocks, while sophomore Danielle Bauer led UCSB with 12 digs. Sophomre Brooke Niles finished with 11 digs. Junior setter Brooke Runde, the only upper-classman in the starting lineup finished with 34 assists.
The Gauchos will face Auburn tomorrow morning and conclude the tournament against host Colorado State in the evening.
