Chris Webb joined the UC Santa Barbara women's volleyball program in the winter of 2007 to assist with volleyball operations and will now serve as an assistant coach for the 2008 season.
Webb comes to Santa Barbara via Saint Mary's College where he served two seasons as an administrative assistant for the women's volleyball program. While working with the Gaels, Webb played a role in helping the team to its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2005. At Saint Mary's, Webb not only provided the volleyball team with guidance on and off the court, he also served as the Director of Athletic Travel for the entire athletic department.
Webb began his coaching career in 2002 as the head coach for Diablo Valley and Odyssey Volleyball clubs, in Walnut Creek, Calif., where he led both the boys and girl's teams to regional championships. Since moving to Santa Barbara, he serves as a coach for the Sports Shack 15 North team.
In addition to his duties as a club and collegiate coach, Webb has been active on the summer camp scene, coaching at Gold Medal Squared, Saint Mary's and Cal volleyball camps.
Webb graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1997 with undergraduate degrees in Spanish and business administration. He helped Northern Arizona to a ninth place finish at Club Nationals in 1993 and was also a member of the Arizona Outdoor Volleyball Association (AVOA). In 1994, Webb won the Arizona King of the Beach Championship.
A native of Guam, Webb also worked for two years as an operations manager at a travel company in Pleasant Hill in addition to serving in the Peace Corps for three years.
