Played at St. Joseph High School under Mike Hinton...Led her team to the 2006 Del Rey League Championship for which she earned first team all-league...Capped off senior year with Long Beach Press Telegram First Team Dream Team honors...Was a First Team All-Sierra League selection in 2005 and earned second team honors in 2004...In 2004, she also helped the Jesters to the CIF Division 3-AA semi-finals and was named to the Press Telegram Second Team Dream Team.

Has played club for Cal Jr's under Melissa Ohta...Won the Junior Olympics 16 national gold medal in 2005 while earning Most Valuable Player honors.

Dana Vargas was born in Long Beach, Calif. on Sept. 30, 1988...Daughter of Long Beach State assistant coach, and Olympic silver medalist Debbie Green and Joseph Vargas, a two-time Olympian on the USA Water Polo Team...Older sister Nicole plays at Long Beach as a setter...Off the court she enjoys going to the beach, spending time with her friends, watching movies and television and singing with her radio on full blast...Names Catcher in the Rye as her favorite novel.
