Will be the Gauchos' main passer this season and is expected to improve her offensive efficiency. Will be counted on to be a go-to player this year.
2006
Started all 31 of UCSB's matches during her sophomore campaign...Had nine double-double performances including the first match of the season when she totaled 11 kills and 13 digs at Fresno State (Aug. 25)...Had a season-best 16 kills against Loyola Marymount (Sept. 26)...Had three consecutive double-double showings in early November including 12 kills and a career-high 23 digs at Cal State Fullerton (Nov. 4)...Tallied 16 double-digit kill performances and 14 double-digit dig showings...Collected a career-high five block assists vs. UC Davis (Sept. 20) and repeated the performance at Long Beach State nine days later...Amassed 12 kills and 14 digs in the Gauchos' narrow 3-2 loss to BYU in the NCAA Tournament First Round...Second amongst returning players with her 2.64 kills per game average and first with 2.73 digs per game...Earned Big West Academic All-Conference honors.
2005
2005 Big West All-Freshman Team
Quickly became a starter at outside hitter en route to earning a spot on the Big West All-Freshman Team...First of 11 double-digit kill performances was 10 put-aways coupled with a career-high 19 assists at Stanford on Sept. 17...Personal best 21 kills in win over Cal State Northridge (Oct. 4) were six more than she had in any other match and were accompanied by 18 digs...Amassed another double-double the following night with 14 kills and 11 scoops as UCSB defeated Pacific...Served up career-high three aces against the Tigers...Hit .361 (15k, 2e, 36a) on Oct. 22 as the Gauchos avenged an earlier loss to rival Cal Poly, also digging 11 balls in the sweep...Last of six double-doubles was 11 put-aways and 10 digs during sweep of Florida A&M (Nov. 25)...Served up at least one ace in nine of her final 10 contests.
High School
Four year varsity starter for South Torrance High School...Was one of PrepVolleyball.com's top-250 "Senior Aces" in 2005, when she was also named First Team All-CIF Division II...Amassed 323 kills, 253 digs, 99 blocks and 21 aces as a senior while leading the Spartans to a CIF Southern Section title and semifinals of the state tournament...Earlier that season helped end Mira Costa's 20-year undefeated streak in Bay League with a team-high 17 kills...First of two straight First Team All-Bay League and Daily Breeze All-Area selections came in 2004...As a sophomore, pounded home 21 balls in semis en route to CIF finals appearance under coach Robert Kutsch...Active in Best Buddies, Student's League and Sister to Sister while at South Torrance.
Club
Also gained experience with Southern California Volleyball Club, which placed fifth at the 2004 Junior Olympic Nationals.

Lauren Michelle McLaughlin came into this world on Jan. 14, 1987 in Santa Monica, Calif....Parents are Deanna and Rob McLaughlin...Has one younger sister, Riley...Niece of former Gaucho assistant coach Rick McLaughlin and current University of Washington head coach Jim McLaughlin...Is majoring in business with a minor in art history at UCSB...Enjoys barbeques, going to the gym and playing music while not on the court... "Best in Show" and Frank Sinatra are her favorite movie and musical artist, respectively.
