Danielle DeBeaubien competed in the California Invitational Heptathlon on April 13th and 14th at Azusa Pacific University scoring 4246 points. She finished 13th out of 26 competitors in the field.
She began her first day of competition with four collegiate bests on Wednesday afternoon. Danielle opened in the 100 Hurdles, arguably her best event with a time of 15.76 good for 744 points. Points in the heptathlon or decathlon are based on an international scoring standard set by the governing body. Certain marks or times will garner an established score. Her next event was the High Jump where she cleared 4-8.75 feet to score 555 points. She than threw the shot put 33-06 feet good for 540 points and closed out the day with a 200m time of 27.83 after almost falling during the race. She scored 644 points in the 200m to end Day 1 with a score of 2483.
On Day 2, Danielle long jumped 15-10.25 for 514 and threw the javelin 117-07 feet enough for 587 points. In her final event, the 800m, she ran 2:32.47, almost fourteen seconds faster than she had previously run this year to grab 662 points and finish the heptathlon with a final socre of 4246.
She is currently ranked 5th in the Big West. The Gauchos this weekend are split again with some athletes competing at the Pomona Invitational and others competing at the prestigious Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, CA.
