LOS ANGELES, Calif. - UCSB put up a fight against University of Southern California but taking home a handful of second and third place finishes but it was not enough to take home the win Saturday January 7, 2006 at McDonald's Swim Stadium.

Freshman Jessica Cruzat placed second in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.01. Jenisse Demeulenaere took third in the 100 free followed by teammate Nadia Dwidar, 51.99. Jen Schwalb followed by teammate Erin Yamamoto took fourth and fifth in the 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly 2:03.15 and 2:03.27, respectively for the 200 and 56.57 and 56.59 for the 100. Jen Schwalb took fourth in the 400 IM, 4:26.99. Jamie Lathers tied Jaclyn Faulkner of Texas for fifth in the 50 free, 24.13. Lathers, Yamamoto, Dwidar and DeMeulenaere took third in the 400 free relay, 3:30.22.

The Gauchos hit the road to Davis, California to swim against UC Davis on January 20, 2006 and to Stockton, California to swim against the University of the Pacific on January 21, 2006.
