After being delayed for two hours due to snow, the UC Santa Barbara softball team swept host Utah State 8-1 and 14-2 (5 inn.) in a Big West doubleheader. The wins improve the Gauchos to 32-17 on the year and 7-6 in conferenece play. Both teams play meet again tomorrow for the final game of the series.
Senior catcher Jami Trinidad went 3-for-3 in game one with two homeruns and six RBI, and senior pitcher Loren Thornburg picked up her 13th win of the season.
Game two went to Carly Harmon for her 16th win of the season. Freshman infielders Karyna Wilkerson and Kristen Mann each had triples in the game to tie a UCSB record. And Trinidad picked up her seventh RBI of the day to run her season total to 37, tying the Gauchos' single season record.
And sophomore infielder Katie Oliver hit her second homerun of the season in game two of the twinbill.
