2008 Academic All-Big West
2008: Started all 54 games during her sophomore campaign...Batted .253 during the season and was fifth on the team with 45 hits...Posted a total of 36 runs ranking third among the Gauchos, third in the Big West Conference and sixth among UCSB single season leaders...Led the squad with her 16 stolen bases, tying for third among conference players and ranking eighth among UCSB single season steals leaders...Posted a .988 fielding percentage and ranked second in the BWC for chances (430) and third with her team-leading 394 putouts...Led the conference with her 16 double plays...Led the squad with 11 sacrfice bunts...Posted a season-high four hits against Santa Clara (Feb. 9), a game in which she went 4-for-5 with two runs, two stolen bases and a RBI...Scored two runs on eight ocassions...Season-high four RBI came against North Dakota (Mar. 9) when she went 2-for-3 with a run and a double...Posted two doubles in a Mar. 8 victory over Loyola Chicago, tying the UCSB record for doubles in a game...Longest hitting streak was eight games spanning from Mar. 8 thru Mar. 15.
2007: Played in 20 games and started seven as a true freshman...Hit .125 on the year and posted a .222 on-base percentage...First start was against No. 23 Massachusetts on Feb. 9 when she went 1-for-3 with a run scored...Posted a season-best two stolen bases against Northern Illinois on Feb. 24, went 4-for-5 on stolen base attempts during the season...Was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored vs. UT San Antonio on Feb. 24.
High School
Played shortstop at Westview High School under coach Kelly Warner...Was a First Team All-Palomar League pick all four years in addition to making First Team All-CIF...Named Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year at Palomar from 2003-06...Helped her team to two CIF Championships...Picked as her team's Best Defensive Player each year of her prep career...Also competed in field hockey, soccer and volleyball...She was the captain and team MVP of her field hockey team during her junior and senior years...Named Best Defensive Player for the soccer team from 2003-06.

Jessica Renee Ziegler was born on Mar. 31, 1988 in Orange, Calif...Parents are Tina and John Ziegler...Has two younger siblings, Amanda and Zachary...Has yet to declare a major at UCSB...Nicknamed "Zigs", "JZ", or "Ziggy"...Aspires to become a pharmacist...A member of Real Life and NCSS...If she wasn't playing college softball, she would be playing field hockey, "because it is intense"...Tony Gwynn and Jake Peavy are her favorite athletes...The San Diego Chargers and Padres and the San Francisco Giants are her favorite sports teams...Enjoys watching "House", "Bones," and "Prison Break".
