Krystal Sandza Named To Verizon Academic All-District 8 Women's Soccer Team

Dec. 13, 2002

Santa Barbara, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara sophomore midfielder Krystal Sandza has been selected to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District 8 Women's University Soccer Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced.

Sandza, who owns a 3.21 grade point average in Communication Studies, was one of just 22 athletes honored in District 8. She adds the award to a long list of honors that she has received during and since the 2002 campaign.

A two-time First Team All-Big West selection, Sandza was named Second Team All-Far West by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Big West Offensive Player of the Year and to the Big West Fall Sports Academic All-Conference Team. The Poway, Calif. native paced the Big West in scoring in 2002 with 25 goals and eight assists for 58 points. Her 25 goals were a Big West record and the third highest single-season total in UCSB history. In addition, she scored a school-record five goals in a win at Air Force and she had two other three-goal hat tricks.
