UCSB Leading Scorer Genelle Ives Selected Big West co-Freshman of the Year, Second Team All-Big West

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Forward Genelle Ives was selected Big West co-Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Big West to lead a trio of Gauchos who received recognition Tuesday.

Ives, a first-year player from Dana Point, Calif., scored six goals and six assists for 18 points on the season. Her six goals and 18 points led UCSB and her six assists ranked second on the team. Ives shared the Freshman of the Year honor with Long Beach State midfielder Hayley Bolt.

In addition Ives' honors, senior defender Katie Cooper and junior midfielder Darci Gwartz were named Honorable Mention All-Big West. For Cooper it was the third time she has been recognized by the league's coaches and for Gwartz it was her second honor.

Big West regular season and tournament champion Cal State Fullerton dominated the postseason honors. The Titans had seven first team selections three second team honorees and one honorable mention. Forwards Kandice Wilson and Kellie Cox shared Offensive Player of the Year honors, while Titans Marlene Sandoval and Karen Bardsley were named Devensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year respectively. Cal State Fullerton coach Ali Khosroshahin shared Coach of the Year honors with UC Riverside's Veronica O'Brien. Brianna Monka (Cal State Northridge) was named Midfielder of the Year
