Los Angeles - The UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team lost to Loyola Marymount by a score of 2-0 on Friday.
In the match, the Gauchos were outshot by a 26-6 margin. The 26 shots on goal by the Lions was a school record. UCSB goalkeeper Sarah Wedig played her first match of the year and stopped five shots.
With the loss, the Gauchos have now dropped two contests in a row. Their record falls to 8-9-1 overall. UCSB finished the Big West season with a 5-4 record, their first winning season in Big West play.
The Gauchos close the season on Sunday morning with an early 10:00 a.m. match against Western Athletic Conference power Fresno State. UCSB will be aiming for its first .500 or better season since 1993.
