UC SANTA BARBARA 2007: Racheal Ritchey returns as one of the leaders of the Gaucho defensive corps...She is fast and tenacious and gives UCSB an all-conference performer.
2006: Ritchey was a First Team All-Big West Conference choice following a stellar season in which she played in and started all 20 matches as a defender...A very active, relentless and tireless worker, she was one of the key cogs of a UCSB defensive unit which allowed just 18 goals and had a goals against average of 0.84...Ritchey's only point on the season came on an assist in a 2-0 win at San Diego State.
2005: Appeared in 12 games as a freshman...Scored her lone goal of the season in UCSB's 4-3 loss at Arizona ... Contributed to two shutouts on the Gaucho back line.
CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL
Ritchey attended Sheldon High School where she played center back...She was her team's Defensive Most Valuable Player...She started three years for Sheldon, although she only played part of her senior year...Coached by John Little...At the club level, Ritchey played for the San Juan Spirits 87 Blue...Played center back for her club...Helped San Juan Spirits 87 Blue to a pair of regional U.S. club soccer titles and to a U.S. club national finals...Club team also recorded a championship at the Las Vegas Showcase and were State Cup semifinalists...Coached by Billy Wiskel.
PERSONAL
Born May 28, 1987 in Sacramento, Calif... .Majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry...Hopes to become either a dentist or a plastic surgeon...Ritchey was a two-time Scholar Athlete at Sheldon HS, a three-time Governor's Award winner, and a five-time Academic Scholar Award winner...In addition to soccer, she compted in cross country and track as a high school athlete...An All-American runner, Ritchey ran in the Junior Olympics seven times...The daughter of Laurie LaDow and James Ritchey.
