2006 Cross Country -- Opened the season with a time of 26:02 in the Lagoon Open... Other times include a 26:40 at the UCI Invite, 26:26 at the Stanford Invitational, and 26:58 at the Titan Invitational.
2007 Track and Field -- Ran the 1500m at the Claremont Classic with a time of 3:58.83... Posted a time of 9:36.14 in the Steeplechase at the Cal-Nevada meet... Also ran the 5000m in 14:43.61 at the UCLA Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational.
High School -- A standout Cross Country and 3200m runner, DeRubira finished his senior season with a 4th place finish in the California Div. III State Championships with a time of 15:43 over the 5,000m course. In qualification for the state meet DeRubira won the Orange County Championships and placed 3rd in the Southern Section Div. III finals on the Mt. SAC course in 15:18. He lettered not only in Cross Country and Track & Field, but also in Soccer at Santa Margarita.
Another great recruit out of Santa Margarita High School (Mike Powers, 2001 & Brandon vonGuenthner, 1998) for the Gauchos, DeRubira was ranked 21st at 3200m in the state of California in 2006 with a 9:15.86, and 41st at 1600m with a 4:18.75. He won the Orange Country Championship 3200m title and at the Div. III Southern Section Championships placed 4th in the 1600m and tied for 2nd at 3200m. He holds high school records in the 1600m, 3200m and is part of the Distance Medley Relay record-holding squad.
