2006 Track & Field -- Suffering an early season injury which took him out for a few weeks, he regained his speed for the final four weeks. Running consistently in the 1:56-1:57 range to start 2006, well off his personal best, he dropped a 1:54.39 in the pouring rain at the Pomona Invitational to win his section. Then at the Cal Poly SLO - UCSB Dual Meet, he notched another seasonal best, just .04 off his personal best. After a less than stellar open 400m at the Occidental Invite he opened up in the 800m prelims of the Big West Championships racing to a spot in the finals and a new best of 1:52.48. Campbell would go onto finish 6th as a true Freshman in another good time of 1:53.60.
2005 Cross Country -- A middle distance specialist, Campbell built up his miles for greater 800m strength as he got used to the 8,000m distance as a Freshman.
High School -- A standout California 800m runner. Campbell had the second fastest 800m mark in the San Joaquin Valley and twelfth fastest prep 800m mark in the state of California running for Oak Ridge H.S. in his senior season. He was a State Meet qualifier, Sac-Joaquin Section Div. II 800m champ and earlier in the year the Sacramento Meet of Champions 800m winner.
