WOODLAND, Calif. -
UCSB senior Brian Alexander, who scored 64 goals this season to secure the seventh spot on the career Gaucho scoring list, was selected Second-Team All-MPSF earlier this week. Alexander's 64 scores made him the top Gaucho goal scorer for the second consecutive year. Last year Alexander was selected as a Third-Team All-American as well as awarded Third-Team All-MPSF honors. The Cambria, Calif. native not only led the Gauchos offensively, he also played a large role as one of the team's top defenders.
Junior goalkeeper Jon Bonafede was also awarded with MPSF honors. Bonafede was selected Third-Team All-MPSF after having an outstanding first season in goal for the Gauchos. After a redshirt year last year and two years as an All-American at Mount San Antonio College, Bonafede recorded 10.65 saves per game--tops amongst all MPSF goalkeepers.
For the second consecutive season, senior Andrew Schoneberger received Honorable Mention All-MPSF honors. Schoneberger, UCSB's second leading scorer (for the third consecutive year) with 32 goals on the season, took the role of team leader and helped guide UCSB to its 18-win season. The Santa Barbara native's 32 scores placed him sixteenth on the career gaucho scoring list with 110 goals.
