UC Santa Barbara's Brian Alexander scored three goals, but it wasn't enough as third-ranked Pepperdine defeated the Gauchos, 12-7 on Sunday in Malibu.
The Gauchos trailed 10-7 entering the fourth quarter but were blanked in the last frame. Alexander scored two of his goals in the second quarter and one in the third. Andrew Schoneberger, UCSB's second-leading scorer, tallied a pair of goals, one each in the first and the second quarter.
Ramiro Saldain and Matt Tilburg scored the other two goals for Santa Barbara. Rick Wright recorded six saves in goal for the Gauchos.
