IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Tim Hutten scored four goals as sixth-ranked UC Irvine held off No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, 8-7, in non-conference men's water polo at Anteater Pool Thursday night.

Senior Colin Mello added a pair of goals as UCI improved to 4-2 on the season. Milos Golic led the Gauchos (10-5) with four goals.

The Anteaters led 5-3 at halftime and took an 8-5 on Hutten's fourth goal of the game with 6:51 left in regulation before UCSB edged back on goals by Ross Sinclair at 2:56 and Golic with 12 seconds remaining.

UCSB travels to the Long Beach State Mini-Tournament this weekend. On Sunday, the Gauchos will play its annual Alumni Game at Campus Pool.
