Dec. 12, 2000

The UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball program has signed Nate Wack, a 6-foot-5 outside hitter from Westosha Central High School in Salem, Wisconsin to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Ken Preston has announced.

Wack, whose high school does not have a volleyball program, participated in club volleyball with North Shore Milwaukee. He has also been a part of the USA High Performance Camp for two years and was selected to the USA Youth National Team which competed in Canada last summer.

An outstanding student, Wack graduated from high school in June of 2000 at the age of 16, but chose to wait until Fall of 2001 to attend college.

"Our goal in the early signing period was to sign an outstanding outside hitter," Preston said. "Nate is very physical and a powerful hitter and will be a very good player for us in the future. He will be a great fit with his intelligence and personality and will add in depth to an outstanding freshman and redshirt freshman class. Our future is very bright and Nate is a part of that."
