The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team jumped back into the national rankings this week, entering the No. 65 spot as they prepare to finish the 2004 regular season. The Gauchos begin a three-match road trip Wednesday, traveling to Cal Poly for the last Big West Conference regular season match. The Gauchos travel to San Diego Saturday and Sunday for matches with University of San Diego on Sat., April 17 and San Diego State on Sun., April 18.
The No. 65 ranked Gauchos bring an 11-6 overall record into this week's matches. UCSB also brings an undefeated 4-0 Big West record into Wednesday's match with Cal Poly. The Mustangs are 10-11 overall and 2-2 in the Big West after losing to Pacific 5-2 last week.
The Gauchos close the 2004 dual match season against two nationally ranked teams. No. 32 San Diego brings an 11-5 record into this week's matches with UC Irvine (April 14) and UCSB. All five of USD's matches have come against top 25 teams. No. 71 San Diego State enters Sunday's match with a 9-7 record.
UCSB travels to Indian Wells April 23-25 for the 2004 Big West Conference Men's Tennis Championships. The winner of the conference tournament earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
