Having established himself as one of UCSB's best ever in his previous two seasons, Kennedy proved in his third consecutive year as the starting goalkeeper that he IS the best ever to step between the pipes for the Gauchos, setting a new school record for career wins with 42 and earning Big West Goalkeeper of the Year honors...A team co-captain and First Team All-Big West recipient, Kennedy started all 22 matches, minding the net all but 27 of the total 2039 minutes played, moving into second all-time in career minutes played by a goalkeeper, and sixth overall, with 5512...His 22 starts ran his career total to 61, yet another Gaucho record...Joined by teammates Drew McAthy and Tony Lochhead, they are the first players since 1970 (Dave Hollingsworth) to be named all-conference three times, and just the second ever at UCSB...Finished his junior campaign fifth in career saves at UCSB and ninth in Big West history with 208 after making 87 on the year, the third most in the Big West...For the third consecutive season he posted a sub 1.00 goals against average, leading the conference for the second straight year with mark of 0.98, the sixth best ever in school history which has helped solidify his career average of 0.98 which still remains as the best ever at UCSB...Kennedy one-upped his freshman year performance by blanking a conference-best eight opponents to run his career complete game shutout total to 21, just shy six of UCSB's all-time record, and third all-time in conference history...Earned conference player of the week honors in his second straight season when made a season-high seven saves on a season-high 19 shots faced in the Gauchos' dramatic 1-0 overtime victory at San Diego for his second shutout victory of the season, two days after downing Big Ten power Michigan State...Kennedy was also forced to make seven saves on 18 shots faced in the season-opening 1-1 tie at San Jose State...For the second straight year he posted a complete game shutout to open NCAA Tournament play, making six saves in the Gauchos' 2-0 second round victory over Cal...The junior put together two impressive scoreless streaks with had his GAA amongst the tops in the nation, his first came between weeks three and five and lasted 454:58 minutes, and his second began near the end of the regular season as was snapped at 348:15 minutes in the Sweet 16 at St. John's, both of which contained sudden-victory overtime matches.
2002: Kennedy continued to establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in UCSB history, earning Second Team All-Big West honors after leading the conference in wins (16), shutouts (6), minutes played (1818:49) and goals against average (0.99)...His 0.99 GAA was the sixth-best single season performance in UCSB history...He now owns a career GAA of 0.98 over the past two seasons, the best ever at UCSB and the fourth-lowest in Big West history...He and teammate Kyle Reynish combined to produce the 13th most shutouts in the nation (10), the 16th best shutout percentage (0.45%) and the 22nd lowest GAA at 0.89...Named to College Soccer News' National Goalkeeper of the Week after posting a shutout in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against USD, making seven saves extending a scoreless streak that ended the in the second round at 351:29 minutes...His scoreless streak was over the course of four matches and included two shutouts...Was the only goalkeeper to be recognized as the Big West's Player of the Week after posting two consecutive shutouts, including a double-overtime affair on the road...Kennedy's 13 career shutouts tie him for fifth all-time at UCSB and in the Big West...Started 21 matches, missing one game due to suspension...His 39 career matches played are the most ever by a keeper over two seasons...Made a season high eight saves at Cal Poly and at home against Cal State Northridge.
2001: Recognized by the Big West as an all-conference honorable mention, Kennedy was one of only seven freshman to honored...Thrown into the fire, the freshman netminder had an outstanding season posting seven shutouts in 18 matches, tying UCSB's freshman record...Playing 1,681 minutes and starting all 18 of the matches in which he appeared, Kennedy was second in the Big West with a 0.96 goals against average...Made a career-high six saves in the Gauchos' 0-0 double-overtime tie against UCLA...Faced 68 shots, stopping 50 for a conference fourth-best .735 save percentage.
