Men's Golf Places Twelfth At Pepperdine's Club Glove Intercollegiate Tournament

Somis, Calif. - The Saticoy Country Club got the best of the UC Santa Barbara men's golf team as the Gauchos finished a disappointing 12th at the Club Glove Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Pepperdine. In its first outing of the 2002-2003 season, UCSB shot a four-man team score of 916, 52-over par for the three round event.

Junior Brian Six was Santa Barbara's top individual finisher at the par-72 course, tying for 19th by carding a plus-seven, 223, with rounds of 75-74-74. Gaucho newcomer Jean-Luc Burnier, who competed as an individual, was the team's next highest finisher at plus-15, tying for 42nd.

UC Irvine's Jeff Coburn took the tournament's individual title, carding a three-round score of 211, five strokes under par, to lead the Anteaters to the team title. UCI shot a team score of 868, just four strokes over par for the entire tournament, edging host Pepperdine by one stroke.

UCSB hits the links next at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif. for the Fresno State Lexus Classic this Friday and Saturday, October 11th and 12th.
