SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Brian Six shot a 221, including a first-round 67, to finish tied for 26th-place, leading the UC Santa Barbara golf team to an 888 and an 11th-place finish in the 18-team Western Collegiate Tournament at Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, Calif.

In addition to his first-round 67, Six shot a solid 72 in the third round, and he was UCSB's top finisher despite a second-round score of 82. Jean-luc Burnier finished tied for 35th at 223, including a 71 in the second round.

Nick Telliard shot a 228, tying him for 57th, and Greg Wells and Jeff Linklater each shot 230 to tie for 63rd. Linklater needed a final round 70, the second best of the tournament by any Gaucho, to get to 230.

UCLA won the tournament at 855, defeating UC Irvine by seven shots. Texas El-Paso was third at 868, Oregon fourth at 869, and Pacific was fifth at 870 to round out the top five. While UCSB finished 11th with its 888 score, there were several schools bunched in the middle of the pack. Six schools, UCSB, Cal, Stanford, San Jose State, Long Beach State and Cal State Stanislaus finished between 885 and 889. The Gauchos fininshed one-shot ahead of 12th-place Stanford.
