Jim Ley is a local product, born and raised in Santa Barbara, he graduated from Santa Barbara High School and played varsity golf for the Dons.

Ley started his professional career in 1976 with Sam Randolph at La Cumbre Country Club; from there he ran Ocean Meadows for 5 years, worked and Santa Barbara Golf Club for 12 years and has been at Twin Lakes for over 22 years.

Ley is a very active player and competitor in the Southern Calif. area. Jim has played in the San Diego PGA Open, the CPC PGA Championship and the Senior CPC PGA Championship. Ley was the 1999 Player of the Year for the Northern Chapter PGA, and has won numerous chapter and section events. In 2006, he qualified for and participated in the U.S. Senior Open.

Ley's coaching interest started with the San Marcos High School boy's team. He was with the team when they won 3 CIF Section Titles and 2 state titles. Ley brings a lot of experience and enthusiasm the Gaucho golf program.
