Freshman Will Brew, Jr., will compete for a starting spot in UCSB's backcourt...Could play either guard position, but it is likely that he will see most of his action at the point...A very good slasher and driver, Brew should also develop into one of the team's best defensive players.
High School
Brew attended St. Mary's High School in Berkeley, Calif....Helped lead St. Mary's to the CIF Northern Regional Division IV title and a trip to the California State championship game...Averaged 17.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 4.5 steals per game...Was chosen All-CIF North Coast Section, All-Bay Shore Athletic League, Contra Costa Times Player of the Year, and Bay Short Athletic League Defensive Player of the Year...Scored a career-high 27 points against Salesian High School...Led the team in scoring 12 times...As a junior, he averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game...Brew was also an All-CIF North Coast Section and All-Bay Shore Athletic League selection following his junior campaign...Helped St. Mary's to the CIF North Coast Section title and the State Division IV regional championship game during his junior season...Coached by Mannie Nodar.
