Santa Barbara, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara placed six members on the Big West Scholar-Athlete squad this season. Ivan Ramirez, James Dayley, Eric Posthumus, Alex McRobbie, Rich Sorenson and Matt Stevens each had grade point averages of 3.0 or higher to earn the special recognition.

Five of the six members were part of the Gaucho pitching staff in 2003. Stevens saw playing time in the middle infield and in the outfield. Daley was the lone senior, redshirting this season with a back injury after pitching one inning. Sorenson and Ramirez are both juniors. Stevens, Posthumus and McRobbie finished their sophomore seasons.
