Santa Barbara, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara had 25 student-athletes honored as the Big West Conference announced its 2007 Spring All-Academic Team Wednesday. A total of 152 were named to the team and UCSB and UC Irvine tied for the highest number of representatives among the eight league institutions.

Included were student-athletes from the sports of baseball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.

Following UCSB and UC Irvine was Long Beach State and UC Riverside with 24 selections each. Cal State Northridge had 18 student-athletes earn all-academic certificates, while Cal State Fullerton (13), Pacific (12), and Cal Poly (11) rounded out the list of honorees.

For the second straight year, the UCSB women's track and field team had the highest number of honorees for any sport, checking in with 14. UC Irvine led the sport of men's track and field with 10 representatives and Long Beach State topped all women's tennis teams with six. UC Riverside's softball (5) and baseball (3) teams led in those respective sports.
