Senior Pat Cary broke two of his own UCSB records this past week at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
Saturday, Cary swam a 1:44.15 in the 200 butterfly prelims, topping his 2006 record time of 1:44.41. He went on to finish eighth with a time of 1:44.55 in the finals.
On Friday, the senior standout posted a time of 47.23 in the prelims of the 100 butterfly, shattering his old record of 47.50, also set in 2006. The time earned him second alternate status for the finals.
Cary earned All-American honors for his performance in the 200 fly.
Cary will be training to represent the United States at the 2007 Pan Am Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in July.
